Visherintroductie - Reintroduction of the fishes chub, dace, burbot, and brown trout in Flanders, Belgium is a species occurrence dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). The dataset contains over 3,300 fish occurrences sampled between 2008 and 2011 from 18 watercourses. The dataset includes 20 fish species. The data are collected to evaluate the success of the reintroduction of the fishes chub, dace, burbot and brown trout in Flanders. The captured numbers were compared with the expected numbers, which were determined in previous studies based on habitat suitability models. The dataset also includes the length and mass of the caught fishes. - The Inventory of alien macroinvertebrates in Flanders, Belgium is a species checklist dataset published by Ghent University. It contains information on 73 alien macroinvertebrate species (mostly crustaceans and molluscs) occurring in Flemish aquatic habitats, from inland lakes to coastal harbours at the North Sea. The inventory is the result of the study Boets et al. (2016) (https://doi.org/10.3391/ai.2016.11.2.03 with occurrence data at https://doi.org/10.15468/xjtfoo) where it was originally published as supplementary material. Here it is published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each species: the scientific name, higher classification, and stable taxon identifier (in the taxon core), the year of first introduction and last assessment in Flanders (given as a year range in the event date in the distribution extension), coarse habitat information (in the species profile extension) and the pathway(s) of introduction, native range(s), and invasion stage in Flanders (in the description extension). - Inventory of the terrestrial isopods in Belgium (2011-2020) is an occurrence dataset published by Spinicornis (Terrestrial Isopod Research Group of Belgium), the Research Institute of Nature and Forest (INBO), and Natuurpunt Studie and described in Boevaere et al. 2022 (https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.1101.65810). The dataset represents the most complete overview of terrestrial isopods in Belgium and includes occurrences of 35 species, observed between 2011 and 2020. There are 36 native terrestrial isopod species in Belgium (De Smedt et al. 2018) and only one (i.e. Miktoniscus patiencei Vandel, 1946) hasn’t been detected in Belgium between 2011 and 2020. The occurrences originate from field surveys, pitfall trap projects and casual observations. The recorded data are registered through the citizen science portals waarnemingen.be and observations.be, managed by Natuurpunt Studie and Natagora respectively. All data were verified by experts. Here, the dataset is published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each record an occurrenceID, reference, date, location and scientific name and if available also individual count, sex, lifestage, behavior, sampling protocol and information on the identification. Generalized and/or withheld information: location information is generalized to 5 x 5 km² Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid cells. Observer name, exact XY-coordinates, toponyms, and photographs are not included in the published dataset, but are known in the source database. Data have been standardized to Darwin Core using the movepub R package and are downsampled to the first GPS position per hour. The original dataset description follows. O_SCHIERMONNIKOOG - Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus, Haematopodidae) breeding on Schiermonnikoog (the Netherlands) is a bird tracking dataset published by Sovon, the University of Amsterdam and the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains animal tracking data collected during CHIRP (Cumulative Human Impact on biRd Populations) for the study O_SCHIERMONNIKOOG using trackers developed by the University of Amsterdam Bird Tracking System (UvA-BiTS, http://www.uva-bits.nl). The study was operational from 2008 to 2014. In total 43 individuals of Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus) have been tagged as a breeding bird on the saltmarshes of the island Schiermonnikoog (the Netherlands), mainly to study their space use both during the breeding season and winter season. Data are uploaded from the UvA-BiTS database to Movebank and from there archived on Zenodo (see https://github.com/inbo/bird-tracking). No new data are expected. These data were collected by Sovon in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Funding was provided by NAM and supported by the UvA-BiTS virtual lab on the Dutch national e-infrastructure, built with support of LifeWatch, the Netherlands eScience Center, SURFsara and SURFfoundation. The dataset was published with funding from Stichting NLBIF - Netherlands Biodiversity Information Facility.

- Meetnetten.be - Larval and metamorph counts for Amphibia in Flanders, Belgium is a sampling event dataset published by the Research Institute of Nature and Forest (INBO). It is part of the Meetnetten.be suite of monitoring networks for priority species in Flanders, in which data are collected at fixed locations using a standardized protocol (https://meetnetten.be). This dataset contains site counts for 3 priority species (Triturus cristatus, Hyla arborea, Pelobates fuscus), as well as other amphibian species observed during sampling. Here, it is published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each sampling event an eventID, date, location and sampling protocol (in the event core), maximum depth, number of sweeps, pH, presence of fish, shading, pond surface, permanent water column and water quality at the time of the event (in the measurement or fact extension) and for each occurrence an occurrenceID, the number of recorded individuals, status (present/absent) and scientific name (in the occurrence extension). - The RIPARIAS target species list is a species checklist dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains (1) the target species of the LIFE RIPARIAS project (LIFE19 NAT/BE/000953), all of them invasive alien species (IAS) of the Regulation (EU) 1143/2014 (https://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/invasivealien/) and (2) the alert list species that currently do not occur in the LIFE RIPARIAS project area, but have proven to have negative impacts on biodiversity and need to be rapidly removed should they be encountered. The alert list was drafted within the LIFE RIPARIAS project following an evidence-based methodology involving climate matching and risk assessment (Branquart et al. 2022).
